He had worked at the building and helped build it in 2008

It was reported that the man was trying to locate his former employer at the building to get his unpaid wages cleared, which have been pending since last eight years.

However, his attempts to repeatedly try and retrieve his salary – totalling hundreds of thousands of yuan – from the businessman weren't successful as his former boss could not be found, South China Morning Post reported.

According to Anhui Commercial News, which quoted Li's family, he was under tremendous pressure and was very angry and frustrated

While it is not uncommon in China for migrant workers to be owed their wages, the authorities were now looking into the matter, SCMP reported.

People mourn Li's death at the foot of the building from where he jumped.
