Recently, there have been many cases of child abuse:

A couple of weeks ago, a 29-year-old father, Mohd Amri Ismail, was sentenced to 10 years' jail by the Sessions Court in Kuala Lumpur, for slamming his four-month-old son to the floor in a fit of rage because he could not put up with his cries.

Back in February this year, a 46-day-old baby died while she was being rushed to the Seberang Jaya Hospital. It was reported that the baby girl, who was born on 30 December, died due to suspected abuse by her parents at their home.

Prior to that, an army sergeant father of a nine-year-old girl, who died in Port Dickson in February, confessed to using his military-issued belt to beat her until she lost consciousness. He also admitted to kicking and stepping on the girl till she urinated.
