A Father Murdered His 11-Month-Old Daughter On Facebook Live Before Killing Himself
He tied a noose around his daughter's neck and drop her from a rooftop.
On Monday, Wuttisan Wongtalay, a 21-year-old Thai man, hanged his baby daughter, and then himself, at a deserted hotel in Phuket
According to The Nation, a Thai news website, the man, identified as Wuttisan Wongtalay, killed his daughter and himself at an abandoned hotel in Phuket.
While he filmed himself killing his baby daughter on Facebook Live, streaming the murder to millions, he didn't broadcast his own death
The Facebook Live video, which was up on the social media site's platform for close to 24 hours, showed the father tie a noose around his daughter's neck and drop her from a rooftop. The child could be heard crying briefly before he retrieved her tiny body.
The father was "having paranoia about his wife leaving him and not loving him", according to Thai police officer Jullaus Suvannin
Wuttisan’s wife, Jiranuch Triratana said the couple had been married for more than a year, but her husband grew increasingly violent, reported Inside Edition.
She said Wuttisan sometimes hit her 5-year-old son from a previous relationship.
Facebook removed the Live videos after they were posted on the man's Facebook page for about 24 hours. Thailand's Ministry of Digital Economy had requested Facebook remove the videos.
In a statement, a Facebook spokesperson said: "This is an appalling incident and our hearts go out to the family of the victim. There is absolutely no place for content of this kind on Facebook and it has now been removed."
On the other hand, Thailand's Ministry spokesman Somsak Khaosuwan told Reuters: "We will not be able to press charges against Facebook, because Facebook is the service provider and they acted according to their protocol when we sent our request. They co-operated very well."
