A Kedah Man Who Previously Served 10 Years In Jail For Rape Now Tried To Rape His Niece

A 48-year-old man from Pokok Sena in Alor Setar, Kedah, has been charged with sexually assaulting and attempting to rape of his eight-year-old niece at the Alor Setar Sessions Court on Thursday
According to The Star Online, the accused claimed trial to three sex charges - two for physical assault and one for attempting to rape his niece between 16 to 18 June.
A welder by profession, he was charged with committing an offence under Section 375(g) of the Penal Code for attempting to rape the girl at about 3pm on 16 June.
The 48-year-old, however, pleaded not guilty to the three charges against him.
The uncle has previous records of rape, for which he was sentenced to 16 years in jail but was out after having served only 10 years
State deputy public prosecutor Rehab Abdul Shukur, who prosecuted, and asked the court not to allow bail to the accused considering the seriousness of the case.
Rehab also stressed that the accused, being an uncle, has family ties with the victim.
The court denied his bail on the grounds of public interest
7 October has been set for the mention of his case, where the application for the charges against the accused to be jointly heard will be submitted.
The accused is facing a total of three separate charges.
He is facing a maximum of 15 years in jail and whipping upon conviction under Section 376(1) of Penal Code which, read together with Section 511 of the Penal Code.
Another two charges come under Section 14(a) of the Child Sexual Offence Act 2017.
