"He (the teacher) heated up the metal sharpener by vigorously rubbing it on the floor and when it became heated, he placed it on three different spots on my son's cheek. This caused blisters to the extent of the skin peeling off," the victim, Mohamad Fikri Said's father Said Sudu, explained at a press conference arranged by PKR assemblyperson for Port Dickson (PD), M Ravi, as reported by Malaysiakini.

It was reported that Mohamad Fikri was playing with his classmates while the teacher was teaching in the class.

The male teacher responded to the situation by also slapping the boy a few times, targeting the spots where the blisters formed.

"The teacher did not stop there. He also slapped my son several times on the spot where the wounds were," said the 32-year-old father.

According to Malaysiakini, Tamil daily Makkal Osai reported that the incident happened at a primary school in PD, Negeri Sembilan, at about 11am on Tuesday, 11 July.

The concerned father told the press that he had lodged a police report against the teacher, the morning after the incident on Wednesday, 12 July

He only found out about the incident after he came back home from work on Tuesday, after which he rushed his son to the clinic.

"Is this how a teacher should behave? I will not rest until this case is settled," he stressed.

Prior to making the police report, Said's wife had apparently sent the teacher a message via WhatsApp, asking him for an explanation on the matter. Said said that the teacher had failed to "provide satisfactory answers".

Responding to the incident, PD assemblyman M. Ravi, stressed that this is the first time a teacher in that school has been accused of mistreating his student

However, he did mention that he has dealt with other cases of students being beaten with shoes and broomsticks in the past.

Ravi said that there are already a few lawyers that are willing to take on Mohamad Fikri's case on a pro bono basis.
