A Team Of 14 PDRM And MCMC Officers Raided A Pregnant Woman's House For 'Insulting' Rosmah
"They banged on my door and raided my house like I was some terrorist."
Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah, a 34-year-old construction consultant, had her house in Jalan Klang Lama raided by a team of the MCMC and the Royal Malaysia police officers yesterday morning, 2 August
The raid, MCMC said, was in connection with defamatory postings against PM Najib, Rosmah and the Sultan of Pahang Sultan Ahmad Shah after a police report was lodged against her Facebook posting that implied Rosmah had inappropriately cozied up to the Sultan
During the raid, officers from the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission — who with the cooperation of the Royal Malaysia police had traced Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah using her Facebook profile under the name of "Ratu Naga" — seized several communication tools like handphones and SIM cards to assist in their investigations, reported The Malay Mail Online.
"A statement was also recorded from the suspect," the MCMC statement said.
The investigation, MCMC told Bernama, was being carried out under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act 1998. If convicted, the accused can be charged with a maximum fine of RM50,000 or sent to jail for a year or both.
What did Syarul Ema Rena Abu Samah post on Facebook?
Samah, in her Facebook comments on 30 July at 23.21, according to reports by Malaysiakini and FMT, had said: "Looks affectionate, cute and funny (comel dan manja)" along with photos of Rosmah and Najib taken at a Hari Raya open house.
For which, a team of 14 PDRM and MCMC officers barged into her house at around 10:30am on Tuesday, 2 August, and questioned her for three hours. "It was about 10.30am and I was still sleeping. Not only I had slept late, I am also heavily pregnant," Samah said.
"They banged on my door and raided my house like I was some terrorist. They also checked my car, to look for gadgets," she said.
Syarul Ema said the team only left after several hours and they instructed her to be present by 3pm at the MCMC headquarters in Putrajaya for further questioning.
Her handphone was seized at the end of the questioning which lasted about four hours.
While speaking to FMT, Samah said that she still felt there was nothing wrong with the comments she posted and would not delete her comments as it was her personal view of Rosmah
“What is wrong with saying someone is manja, cute and funny?” she asked.
“They kept asking me why I posted those comments. I explained to them that I did not mean anything bad. I did not write anything bad about the Sultan either.”
She said she was told she would be charged under the MCMC Act and added, “I will also have to buy another handphone.”
A day later, Rosmah's aide Rizal Mansor posted on his Facebook profile, that Rosmah does not let allegations and slander affect her and that she is magnanimous in forgiving those who slander her, although they never open their hearts to seek an apology from her
