One of the M'sians taken hostage in an Algerian gas field on Wednesday, had alerted his wife here of the attack by terrorists just as the incident happened.
The Malaysian Embassy in Algeria is in the process of bringing back the three Malaysian citizens who were saved from a hostage incident at a gas facility complex in Amenas last week.
The three Malaysians that have been identified are Mr Patrict Purait Awang, Mr Lau Seek Chiang and Mr Ravi Kuppusamy.
However, the Embassy is still looking determining the fate of the remaining two Malaysians.
The MoFA said the Embassy of M'sia in Algiers reported that there are 5 M'sians in total who are working at the gas facility complex in Amenas, Algeria during the hostage incident.
The gas plant is jointly run by BP, Statoil of Norway and Sonatrach of Algeria. Americans, French, British, Japanese, Filipinos, Norwegians were among those feared still held at the facility.
What We Know About Siege In Amenas Gas Facility
Reuters also reported on Friday that at least 22 foreign hostages remained unaccounted for, following the assault to free hundreds of captives taken by Islamist gunmen. Its source mentioned that about 30 hostages including several westerners were killed during the storming on Thursday, along with about 11 of their captors.
