This government initiative aims to help STR recipients aged 40 and above that suffer from non-communicable diseases (NCDs).
It received an allocation of RM80 million, which STR recipients can utilise for health screenings, medical equipment, cancer treatment incentives, and transport incentives.
3. MyMYNDA Scheme
The government has allocated RM34.5 million for the establishment of a National Centre of Excellence for Mental Health (NCEMH) under the MyMYNDA programme to help improve the mental wellbeing of Malaysians.
Mental health wellness improvement programmes will also be made available through MyMYNDA.
4. Subsidised mammogram and cervical screenings
An allocation of RM11 million will go towards the provision of free and subsidised mammogram and cervical screenings to help promote the early detection of breast and cervical cancer.
Mammogram screenings can be utilised at any LPPKN clinics nationwide, while HPV DNA screenings for cervical cancer can be utilised at 49 Klinik Nur Sejahteras and LPPKN-approved outreach programmes, such as the ROSE Foundation.
5. Import duty and sales tax exemption on nicotine replacement therapy (NRT)
To lower the smoking rate in Malaysia, the government will be exempting import duty and sales tax on NRT products.
NRT products aim to help smokers quit by supplying just enough nicotine to the body, and gradually reducing the symptoms of smoking addiction.
