This Man's Free Tiffin Service Is Feeding 40 Senior Citizens Who Live Alone And Can't Cook
"I do as much as I can, and I will continue to do this till the time my body serves me."
This is Mark D'souza. He is 57, lives in the suburbs of Borivali, Bombay, India, and is loved by all in his locality in the I.C. Colony which has the highest concentration of Christians in Bombay.
Mark is a household name in the I.C. Colony for his selfless and humbling nature through which he manages to feed as many as 40 people every single day without taking a single penny from them
In a country where even the government expresses its hopelessness in providing food security to all its citizens, especially those living below the poverty line, and even charity workers complain about lack of funds, Mark is setting an incredible example for us.
"I do as much as I can, whatever is in my capability. I have hired a cook, she has been a great help, and I will continue to do this till the time my body serves me," Mark says.
According to a report published in a DNA affiliated news portal, people from in and around Borivali visit Mark for a free tiffin service. His customers are mostly elderly who live alone and cannot cook.
Mark started his service in 2012.
The food Mark serves is vegetarian on weekdays and non-vegetarian on weekends.
The report also quotes one of Mark's favourite customer Patricia D'souza, 79, who tells how he lights up her otherwise lonely life
“My husband died, my children died, I'm all alone. My brother gave me this place, but I cannot cook, so Mark's free service is like a blessing.
He came into my life when I needed him the most. He comes to the doorstep with such a pleasant smile that it just makes my day; very humble and noble Mark.
He, through the years, has become my pillar of strength."
