The Ministry of Finance will not extend the application period for the government’s cash aid BR1M 3.0, from the initial deadline of Jan 31, 2014 despite over 70% of the 900,000 new eligible recipients of the aid had still not registered to date.
“We need the eligible applicants to register for BR1M 3.0 fast. We will not extend the process as we had for the two earlier BR1M,” he said. He said if the recipients delayed the registration process, they might not be able to get the i-BR1M insurance coverage as the protection period is from Jan 1 to Dec 31, 2014.
Households earning between RM3,001 and RM4,000 per month and single individuals aged 21 years and above with a monthly income of less than RM2,000 are eligible to apply for the BR1M.

About the BR1M
RM2.6 billion is expected to benefit 5.2 million households in several phases. These 5.2 million households represent approximately 80 percent of the total Malaysian households.
During the recent Budget 2012 presentation, the Government has announced to give out a one-off cash payment of RM500 to households with an income of less than RM3,000 a month.
