BREAKING: Dr. M Is Headed To KL To Join #Bersih5

In a surprise that's surely going to give a boost to the ongoing Bersih 5 rally, former premier Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad is headed to Kuala Lumpur to join the electoral watchdog's planned protest

Dr Mahathir, who was in Sudan, has returned and will be attending the Bersih 5 rally in KL, Sufi Yusof, Dr Mahathir's aide, told The Star

"He stepped off the plane dressed in a yellow Bersih 5 t-shirt worn over his white collared shirt. He is heading to KL now," Sufi was quoted as saying by The Star.

Dr Mahathir's sudden appearance is surprising because just three days ago the 91-year-old had appeared in a video, wearing a Bersih t-shirt, urging Malaysians to participate in the Bersih 5 rally. During which he had said he won't be able to attend the rally himself.

"Malaysia is now in distress because (Prime Minister) Datuk Seri Najib's administration has caused the country to rake up billions of ringgit in debts that are unable to be paid by the Government and the country. That is why we need to show our dissatisfaction with the Government by taking part in this demonstration by Bersih in Dataran Merdeka and also at other locations," Dr. Mahathir had said in the video.
