BSH 2020 Will Be Paid Out On 20 January. Here's How To Check If You're Eligible For RM300

The financial aid will be given according to household income.

The first phase of the Cost of Living Aid (BSH) 2020 will be paid out on 20 January based on the BSH 2019 database

"The first phase payments of RM300 for each household will be credited directly to the recipients' respective bank accounts using the information from BSH 2019," said Finance Minister Lim Guan Eng in a statement on Monday, 6 January.

According to The Star, some 3.8 million households will benefit from the allocated RM1 billion.

BSH is a form of financial assistance provided by the government for households making less than RM4,000 a month

According to the MyBSH website, the aid is given according to household income:
- RM1,000 for income under RM2,000,
- RM700 for income between RM2,001 and RM3,000, and
- RM500 for income between RM3,001 and RM4,000.

The payments will be given out in three phases this year.

On top of this, there is an additional BSH of RM120 to be given to those with children aged 18 years and below (but limited to four children).

Parents of children with disabilities will receive the additional RM120 regardless of their children's age.

BSH 2020 will be given out similarly to BSH 2019.

Aside from the household income category, the other two categories of people eligible for BSH 2020 are people who are single and persons with disabilities (OKU).

According to New Straits Times, Lim said yesterday that those in the single and OKU categories will receive a one-off payment in the second phase of payouts.

Those who received BSH 2019 last year need not apply again for BSH 2020

"No application is necessary if the applicant has been approved and there is no change of information details, as well as for disabled applicants listed as the Welfare Department's e-Bantuan recipients," said Lim.

The minister, however, said applicants should make a new application if they are newly eligible and had not registered or if their application was not approved last year

"To make sure those truly qualified are not left out under the BSH 2020 programme, one can apply and make updates starting from 1 February to 15 March," explained Lim.

Recipients can update their details online at MyBSH or at any Inland Revenue Board Of Malaysia (LHDN) branches, HASiL service centres, or Urban Transformation Centres (UTC).

The minister added that once the BSH 2020 database has been updated, and if the appeals are approved, the payment will be made in the second and third phase later this year.

He also said that cash payments will be made on 1 February to recipients who do not have a bank account and are residing in rural areas.
