Falling Signboard Near Tanjung Malim Crushes A Family Of 3, Killing Them On The Spot
The freak accident caused the highway to be closed for 90 minutes.
Early Saturday morning, 10 October, a Bukit Meru family of three paid with their lives after their Mercedes-Benz was crushed by a falling signboard at 399.8 Kilometre of the North-South Expressway
The family which included a husband and wife and their daughter died at the scene of the accident.

Superintendent R. Supramaniam said the accident was caused when a northbound trailer hit the back of a lorry, overturned and crashed into a signboard support in the central reservation.
The impact caused the signboard over the opposite southbound lane to fall and crash onto the Mercedes, which was in the middle lane at the time.
“The bodies from the car were completely removed by 7.10am and the operation was completed by 8.40am,” said Rahim.
All three bodies have been sent to the Kuala Kubu Hospital for post-mortem. The family's relatives have been informed of the accident.
It is understood that the driver was formerly a director-general at the Ipoh Mineral Research Centre and lived in Bukit Meru, Ipoh.
The three victims were identified as Dzulkarnain Kamaruzzaman, 64, Jamnah Ibrahim, 56, and Nor Juliana Dzulkarnain, 17, who sustained serious injuries and died at the scene.
The container truck driver and his attendant who were injured have been taken to the Slim River Hospital while another container truck driver was arrested for urine tests and further investigation
The trailer driver, Azar Ahmad, 48 and assistant, Mohd Shah Rizainie, 22, suffered injuries and were sent to Slim River Hospital for treatment. Lorry driver, S. Dinesh Kumar, 27, escaped unhurt.
“The trailer driver will be detained to undergo a urine test and assist the police investigation into causing death by reckless or dangerous driving.
