COVID-19 Patient Punches Nurse Before Trying To Escape Sungai Buloh Hospital

The 33-year-old punched the nurse in the face before climbing through a window at the ward.

A COVID-19 patient at the Sungai Buloh Hospital punched a nurse before trying to escape through a window

Harian Metro reported that the incident took place around 3.20pm on Monday, 23 August.

The patient is a 33-year-old who was admitted to the hospital around 3am on the same day.

Sungai Buloh district police chief Supt Shafa'aton Abu Bakar said, "The male patient acted aggressively towards a nurse by punching them in the face."

The man fell from the fifth floor of the hospital and sustained severe injuries

Shafa'aton explained to Utusan Malaysia that the man "disrupted other patients" before escaping through the ward's window.

He added that other hospital staff noticed the act and tried to rescue him. However, the patient fell to the ground floor of the building.

The patient suffered injuries to his face and body.

The man was admitted to the intensive care unit (ICU) for further treatment

The case is currently being investigated by the police.

Previously, a video of the incident went viral on social media. It showed the man, who had already climbed out of the window, resisting help from hospital staff while people screamed in the background.
