A video of a dog driving a four-wheeled mobility scooter is making its rounds in China

In the video, a talented black Labrador named Wanzi can be seen standing on a mobility scooter with its paws on the steering wheel, barking as it cruises along a road.

The clip, captured in Meishan, Sichuan province, left onlookers stunned, with one person commenting, "I must be seeing things. A dog is driving!"

A traffic police officer eventually stopped the dog

According to South China Morning Post, the dog's owner, a professional animal trainer surnamed Chen, was not fined but received a verbal warning.

An officer told him, "Dogs are not allowed to drive on the road due to serious safety concerns. Training should only happen in a controlled, enclosed space."

Chen explained that the vehicle is a senior's mobility scooter, which he modified with a power-off brake system. His 5-year-old dog can start the scooter by pressing a button and stop it by lifting its paw.

The dog, which Chen trained using scientific methods, can also expertly ride a skateboard, take out the rubbish, and even turn on lights.

Chen, who runs an animal training centre, said Wanzi has a gentle nature and particularly enjoys skateboarding.

However, the driving incident has sparked controversy on mainland social media, with many raising public safety concerns.
