An expat in Singapore recently revealed her family's "basic cost of living in Singapore" and listed down their monthly expenses on TikTok

In the 38-second clip, user @gieziheart shares that her family of three spends SGD4,000 (RM13,097) per month on rent for their two-bedroom home, while shelling out SGD350 (RM1,146) for monthly utility bills and internet service.

She also mentions that her family's transportation allowance is SGD900 (RM2,946), and that she spends another SGD1,700 (RM5,566) on her son's education and "extra activities".

The family also spends SGD1,100 (RM3,601) on their helper alone

Aside from those monthly expenses, the family spends another SGD500 (RM1,636) on toiletries and SGD1,500 (RM4,908) on their groceries.

The woman's son is not the only one who gets to do extra activities. According to the mother, the family spends around SGD1,600 (RM5,235) each month on outings and celebrations, the majority of which is spent at restaurants.

In total, the family's monthly expenses amounted to SGD11,650 (RM38,121).

Following the negative comments they received after uploading the video, the mother told AsiaOne that the family believes everyone has the right to express what they feel

The woman went on to say that her family respects any feedback they have received.

"As foreigners living in Singapore for 10 years, we are very thankful [for] the opportunity that was given to us to work in this country," the woman told AsiaOne.

She added that her family will continue to work hard, persevere, and upgrade themselves in order to contribute to the community in the best way possible.
