Well, the national Social Security Organisation (PERKESO) has a wage guide for you to do your research

"The wage guide is an artificial intelligence (AI) tool for profiling wage against age for selected occupations and qualifications," reads the header of the webpage that is believed to have launched in July 2022.

All you have to do is visit the web page, type in your age and occupation, and voilà.

The result comes in the form of a graph, showing the occupation's median wage as well as a range from its lowest to highest wages.

As an example, a 25-year-old data analyst makes a median wage of RM3,025 (ranging between RM2,414 and RM4,610), and by the age of 30, their median wage would have increased to RM3,874 (ranging between RM2,786 and RM6,864).

According to the webpage, the tool serves as "a guide to quickly glimpse the potential wage for the selected occupation based on age"

"The range shows the possible wage earned depending on location, industry, skills, and experience," it says.

PERKESO adds that the tool can be used by case advisors at employment job fairs, academic counsellors to advise students on career paths, and fresh graduates to benchmark their starting pay, among others.

"There are more than 200 occupations profiled by The Wage Guide. Some of the occupations include financial analyst, sales manager, software developer, and more," it explains.

"The Wage Guide data is sourced from the Employment Insurance System (SIP) Loss of Employment programme."
