On Thursday, a 56-year-old father of two was charged under Section 8(a) of the Sexual Offences Against Children Act 2017 for sending 33 nude photos of a four-year-old girl to her mother

The accused, however, pleaded not guilty at the Ampang Sessions Court for six counts of sending four-year-old girl's nude photos to the victim's mother via WhatsApp.

The 56-year-old father of two children is alleged to have committed the offence at a house in Jalan Perdana 6/3, Pandan Perdana, Hulu Langat, between 23 February and 9 March this year, during when he sent the 33 explicit photos to the victim's 40-year-old mother who is an Indonesian and works as a maid.

If convicted, the accused, Zaulkefli Ahmad, faces a sentence of 15 years in jail and is liable to whipping not less than three strokes, according to a report in NST Online.

The accused was reportedly entrusted by the victim's mother to look after her safety while she was working as a maid at a house

However, on 10 March, the four-year-old victim was rushed to the Ampang Hospital with serious bleeding on her head. It was reported that she suffered injuries as a result of being abused by an acquaintance of her mother in Pandan Perdana.

The little girl was found to have wounds on her forehead, chest and legs believed to have been the result of being abused, reported NST Online.

The two men who had taken the victim to the hospital claimed to be acquaintances of her mother and also claimed that she experienced a seizure in the toilet and had fallen.

The accused was not granted bail

Considering the fact that it was a non-bailable offence, Deputy Public Prosecutors M.S. Arunjothy and Nor Hashimah Hashim did not offer bail.

Arunjothi submitted that it was a serious offence as it involved a child and the accused was not charged with one count, but several.

The Sessions Courts has set May 10 for Zaulkefli's case to be up for mention.

Meanwhile, a couple, who were initially sentenced to death for murdering their Indonesian maid, managed to escape the gallows after the Federal Court on Wednesday, 4 April 2018, amended the charge from murder to culpable homicide not amounting to murder:
