AEON Is Finally Opening Their First Mall In East Malaysia Next Month
It will be AEON’s 27th mall in Malaysia.

The first ever AEON Mall in Kuching is expected to open its doors next month, on 20 April
Community pages on Facebook have been talking about the opening of this upcoming mall, which will house stores such as Uniqlo, Kaison, and H&M, among others.
The opening of AEON Kuching would be a significant milestone for the leading Japanese retail group as it would be AEON's first mall in East Malaysia, which is also its 27th mall and 35th store in Malaysia.
During the opening of AEON's mall in Bandar Dato' Onn in September 2017, executive director Poh Ying Loo reportedly said that the company would invest RM300 million on the mall in Kuching.
AEON Mall Kuching Central also posted a "countdown" to the store's opening in the Sarawak capital on its Facebook page yesterday, 26 March
Ahead of the mall's opening, AEON has already conducted a tree-planting ceremony on 17 March
Some 100 volunteers from local schools and AEON representatives congregated and took part in the tree-planting activity when saplings were planted just outside the upcoming AEON Kuching Mall.
It has been the company's tradition to organise a tree-planting programme on the grounds of a new mall prior to the opening, as part of its mission of greening the environment.
The new AEON mall in Kuching, which is scheduled for completion in the next few weeks, is part of the group's expansion plans in the next two years
A report by The Borneo Post on 24 March quoted Maybank Investment Bank Bhd's research arm, Maybank IB Research, as saying that AEON's expansion plan is on track.
"This (AEON Kuching) will be the only planned new mall in 2018 (opened AEON Mall Bandar Dato’ Onn in Johor in 2017) and AEON is planning for another mall in Nilai, Selangor in 2019," it said after a meeting with AEON’s management.
Maybank IB Research also pointed out that AEON is also refurbish its older mall in Taman Maluri in Kuala Lumpur, while there are plans to also refurbishment its existing stores in 1Utama, Sunway Pyramid and Tebrau City.
