A 42-year-old teacher in George Town surrendered himself to the Kulim police on Monday, 19 November, after he beat his wife to death on Sunday night at their rented flat over a misunderstanding

According to NST Online, Kulim police informed their counterpart at the Northeast District police that a man had surrendered himself in at about 4.30pm yesterday, claiming that he had murdered his wife, in their rented unit in the Sri Indah Apartment.

Timur Laut district police chief ACP Che Zaimani Che Awang said that the 42-year-old suspect had admitted to hitting his wife at their rented unit.

The couple, who had been married for 10 years, did not have any children.

The victim was found slumped in a pool of blood inside the flat

ACP Che Zaimani said that after the husband turned himself in, police brought him back to his rented unit Monday evening to assist in the investigation.

"When we reached the unit, he opened the door, and upon checks, we found the victim slumped in a pool of blood inside one of the rooms," the ACP said, adding that further questioning of the suspect revealed that incident occurred at 10pm on Sunday.

The suspect "had a misunderstanding with his wife" following which he took a laundry drying rack and hit the victim on the head repeatedly, ACP Che Zaimani revealed.

"He then left the home and went back to his hometown in Kulim. He returned to the rented unit at 11am on Monday and found the victim still unconscious," he said.

The husband turned himself in after he informed his family and they told him to lodge a report at the Kulim police station

During the preliminary investigation, police found blood on the right side of the victim's head, right brow and left ear. There were also injuries on her left brow.
