Cyber Bullies Who Mocked A Teen Over Her Appearance Get Slammed by Netizens
The saying beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder was lost on some cold-hearted citizens.
Zati Salam, an 18-year-old special needs teenager, was labelled ugly and mocked for not being pretty enough by a bunch of viewers after she posted her selfies on Instagram
One account holder, identified as Afiq, asked if he could find “a mask” that looked like hers. Another user asked why she liked to show off her teeth.
“Why is that all the pictures showed the same expression?”, commented another Instagram user.
There was also another comment calling her “terrorist”.
Enraged by the comments, fellow netizens defended Zati by flooding her pictures with comments condemning those who made fun of her disabilities
A certain Rania said those insulting her may have perfect looks but their hearts were “rotten and disgusting”.
“It’s never okay to judge someone on something they cant change. Critizing people wont makes you less ugly, you have a rotten heart. Seriously I think you need to stop being ignorant, and start doing self reflection. Grow up boy, be a man with a brain,” responded another Instagram user, Eryn (@erynazmn) after reading Afiq’s heartless comment.
Several instagramers have come out to show their support for Zati by giving her sweet words of encouragement and reminding her to disregard hurtful comments
Since news about her went viral on social media sites, Zati has gained 5,549 followers on Instagram including singer Shila Amzah
The 18-year-old has also attracted much attention from Facebook users with one of them turning out to be her cousin
Facebook user Awek Utoken Ufun took to the social networking site to share her experience of knowing Zati and lamenting about the incident.
“She is my cousin. A loving and caring person, not only towards human beings but also towards animals. In her class, she was awarded with an excellence award."
“As her cousin, I am shocked, angry and sad over this fact. We are talking about my younger cousin here. If her parents got to know about this, they will surely be devastated.”
