A statement purportedly revealing that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be abolished in June is fake

The fake letter has been circulating on social media and among WhatsApp groups.

New Straits Times (NST) reported that the Finance Ministry has officially debunked the statement, which bears the ministry's officially logo

The document also claimed that no new taxes will be introduced for two years and the Sales and Services Tax (SST) will be introduced in 2020. 

Pakatan Harapan (PH) strategist Liew Chin Tong has taken to his Facebook page to debunk the hoax

In its manifesto, PH has pledged that it will abolish GST, but the coalition has noted that it will be done in stages.
