Tengku Adnan Showcased A FAKE Guinness World Records' Certificate At The iCHEF 2017
The organisation revealed on Twitter that the certificate was not a genuine one.
Yesterday evening, 25 March, at the iCHEF 2017, Federal Territories Minister Datuk Seri Tengku Adnan Tengku Mansor proudly announced that Malaysia has broken the record for the world's largest gathering of chefs, which was previously held by Mexico
According to a report in NST, the event held at the Dataran Putrajaya saw a gathering of 4,235 local and international chefs
And it quoted Tengku Adnan as saying that, "I'm told that we have managed to gather more than 4,000 chefs from inside and outside the country, who participated in iCHEF 2017. This event has been certified by the Malaysia Book of Records as the largest gathering of chefs in this country, as well as in the world."
However, the Guinness World Records (GWR) certificate showcased by Tengku Adnan on his Twitter was questioned for its authenticity
Following which, one Twitter user tweeted to the organisation to ask them to clarify if the certificate was indeed issued by GWR
GWR replied saying that the certificate, showcased by FT Minister Tengku Adnan, is "not a genuine certificate issued" by them:
@amrlrxrshd Unfortunately that's not a genuine certificate issued by our records team
