The two-minute video which was widely circulated on Facebook and WhatsApp since Wednesday shows a man at a durian stall, believed to be in Taman Sri Gombak, wrapping individual packets of durians that will be put for sale.

However, much to everyone's surprise, the man appeared to make a suspicious movement before he covers each packet with cling-wrap, leading viewers to conclude that he was spitting on them before packing it up.

Following that, Harian Metro reported today that the stall has currently ceased operations

Harian Metro reported that it went to have a look at the stall, and based on its observations, the stall has ceased operations. It said that the business was closed most probably due to the backlash it has received from the public after the video went viral on social media.

It also reported that according to a man (who declined to be named) who was at the scene, the stall has been operating at the same location for about 10 years and there was a commotion that happened there yesterday night at about 9pm.

"After the video went viral, many people came and scolded the traders. They packed everything into their lorry after that," the man was quoted as saying by Harian Metro.

It was also reported that the police had called in the trader and his workers to assist in investigations regarding the video and commotion

According to Harian Metro, Gombak police chief ACP Ali Ahmad said that action will be taken against them if they committed an offence.

"We will call in the trader and investigate the matter. If any wrongdoing is found, action will be taken accordingly as per the existing laws," he was quoted as saying.

"So far, no one lodged a police report and no arrest has been made. Our patrol units have scouted the area yesterday night but the trader could not be found," he said when contacted by Harian Metro.
