The coroner's court today ruled the death of 6-year-old William Yau last January as a misadventure.

"This court rejects the criminal involvement of any party, including the parents of the deceased as the cause of his death. Even then, this court does not reject any elements of negligence that could have led to his death," said Mohd Hezri.

"At the time of his death, he was six years old. A boy of that age would be prone to making mistakes due to his immaturity. The court does not reject the possibility that he left his parents car and headed towards the field," said Mohd Hezri.

The court also dismissed the possibility that William was kidnapped and murdered.

A Coroner's Court here will deliver its verdict later Thursday on the cause of death of six-year-old William Yau who was found floating near Sungai Sireh jetty in Port Klang on Jan 24.

The inquest into the death of 6-year-old William Yau concluded yesterday after 21 witnesses gave evidence over the disappearance and subsequent death of the boy.

Burger seller says he did not notice William leaving the car

A part-time burger seller testified in the Coroner's Court that he did not see any child coming out of a parked car belonging to the father of William Yau Zhen Zhong.

Shah Azril Azri Abdul Hamid, 29, who runs his business next to the Onking Electronics store in Putra Heights, also did not see anyone approaching the Toyota Hilux which was parked 20m from his stall.

Shah Azril said William's father Yau Kok Kang, 33, came to his stall at about 8.30pm to inquire on whether he had seen a child near his stall.

“Yau was very nervous and was calling out William's name while his wife was crying,” he said.

He also did not hear any child screaming for help as at that time the electrical shop had turned the radio volume high. Asked by DPP Lim Keng Fatt whether he saw anyone approaching the car or heard a sound of a car door being closed, Shah Azril replied, "No".

Pathologist says there are three possible cause to William Yau's death

There were three possibilities which caused the death of six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong who went missing in Putra Heights on Jan 16, a Coroner's Court was told.

Dr Nur Ayutimasery Abdullah of Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah, Klang, said the post-mortem conducted on Jan 25 showed that the boy had fractures on his skull, which could have been caused by a strong force applied to his head.

The second possibility was that he could have slipped into a drain filled with water and drowned, and the third was to fall into the drain, knocked his head and died, she said during examination-in-chief by deputy public prosecutor Lee Keng Fatt.

She said there were three serious injuries found on the body, namely the skull, right rib and right shin. She said the boy died a week before the post-mortem was conducted.

The policeman, who was on patrol duty, said Yau's wife was crying and carrying her daughter when he reached the shop.

William Yau's mother received two SMSes in Mandarin from two different numbers asking for RM3,000 ransom after the boy went missing.

The 1st SMS on Jan 22, 7.35am: “You watch out. Your son is in Kajang, it is not safe to return home. If you want your son to return safely you need to bank-in RM3,000 and do not report to the police”.

The 2nd SMS from a different number, Jan 23, 12.25pm: “Your son is in our hand. If you want your son back you need to bank-in RM3,000 and do not report to the police. If report we will kill you son."

An officer with the Meteorological Department told the inquest into the death of 6-year-old William Yau that it had been raining for four hours in Putra Heights when the boy went missing on Jan 16.

During examination-in-chief by DPP Lee Keng Fatt, Goh cried when she was shown the post-mortem photographs and identified William's body through his shirt, pants and underwear.

She, however, did not get any reply.

The second SMS the next day at 12.25pm read, "Your son is in our hands. If you want to take your son, bank in RM3,000 to us. Don't report to the police. If report to the police, we will kill."

Goh said that she then went searching for her son in between parked cars in the area and also went into the shops nearby while calling William’s name out loud.

William's mother said she was rushing out of the electrical shop in Putra Heights, when the staff who stood at the door asked, "Didn't he already leave the shop?"

Goh also said she had received a few threatening calls after her son went missing. One of them was from a Chinese male demanding RM80,000 to secure William’s release.

“At one time, I heard a child in the background calling ‘mummy, mummy’ but I could not ascertain whether the voice came from a boy or a girl,” she said.

The father of William Yau could not hold back his tears when he was shown post-mortem photographs of his son during an inquest into the death of the six-year-old boy.

The inquest will continue on March 20 and will run another three days from April 22.

The boy might have been carried by the water in the big drain in Putra Heights in Subang, to where he was found floating 30km away at Sireh Jetty in Port Klang.

William's great-grandmother, granduncle and uncle as well as another man and his daughter who are neighbours of William’s great-grandmother gave statements on William being abused.

William’s brother may hold the key to what happened to the 6 year-old as he was the last to see his younger brother alive.

Rumours of such a predator have been spread via text messages in the days following the boy’s disappearance and gained traction since his body was discovered in Klang.

"We want to find out what happened to the boy prior to his disappearance... To do that, we have to cover all angles. This include following up on every lead and tip-off we have received."

William’s grandmother who also attended the cremation, was a picture of sorrow. Unable to contain her emotion, she was seen continuously comforted by another son, Yau Lun Gang.

The date and location of his funeral will be set once police have received the DNA test results, which are expected today, confirming the identity of the body.

William's body will be taken to Bukit Jelutong Malacca to be cremated and funeral rites are expected to be done at 2pm.

"Classifying it as sudden death is not the end. We intend to uncover the truth and find out what really happened to William," said the police.

Police are actively looking for clues into the case and re-examining all angles to find out how he died and how his body ended up near a jetty in Port Klang.

A check by The Star found no large drain near the electronics appliance shop in Putra Heights where he was last seen.

"The discovery indicates that William could have fallen into the drain and swept away by strong currents," Subang Jaya OCPD Asst Comm said.

The victim could have died about a week ago, but the actual cause of death was not yet known because the body had decomposed and many internal organs were damaged.

Police classify William's disappearance as missing person

Police are poring over CCTV footage recorded from several locations in and around the area where six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong went missing.

Sementara itu, bapa mangsa berharap mana-mana individu yang menyimpan serta menjaga Zhen Zhong supaya memulangkan semula William itu ke pangkuan keluarga atau mana-mana lokasi selamat dengan segera.

Beliau menambah, polis turut telah memaklumkan kehilangan kanak-kanak itu menerusi Talian Nur 15999 di bawah Kementerian Pembangunan Wanita, Keluarga dan Masyarakat.

“We have also received many calls from people with regards to the case. Three of the callers said they had spotted Zhen Zhong but investigations later revealed the information was untrue".

The police believed an individual might have met the boy who was reported missing in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya on Wednesday, before hiding him at a location.

The case of missing six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong is still classified as a 'Missing Person Report' as no ransom was demanded from his family to secure his release.

A RM20,000 reward has been offered to anyone who has valid information on missing child William Yau Zhen Zhong's whereabouts.

NGOs, politicians join in search

MCA has ordered all its branches nationwide to display the picture of six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong in an effort to trace the missing boy.

Suria FM, 988 FM, Red FM and Capital FM will run public service announcements every alternate hour from today to galvanise their 4.3 million listeners to join in the search.

All four stations under the Star Radio Group have joined in the search for six-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong, who has been missing since Wednesday.

The MCA Public Services and Complaints Department offered a reward of RM20,000 to anyone with information leading to Zhen Zhong's whereabouts.

WANITA Umno has joined in the search for missing 6-year-old William Yau Zhen Zhong with its 22,000 branches nationwide distributing pamphlets and flyers.

Malaysian Crime Prevention Foundation vice-chairman Tan Sri Lee Lam Thye said the MCPF has volunteered to help look for the boy, adding its members would be the “eyes and ears” of the police.

Political parties, non-governmental organisations and individuals pledged that Yau Kok Kang and his wife Goh Ying Ying would not have to go through the painful and harrowing experience on their own.

After lodging a police report, she and her family, along with their neighbors and friends, had gone all around the area looking for William, even in the drains and dumpsters.

Kali terakhir beliau dilihat adalah di Kedai Elektronik Onking, Jalan Putra Mahkota, Putra Heights.

Mereka menguncikan anak-anak mereka di dalam kereta, sambil membiarkan tingkap kereta terbuka. Apabila mereka kembali semula kira-kira 15 minit kemudian, William tidak kelihatan.

Dalam perjalanan pulang ke rumah, Yau dan Goh berhenti di kedai elektrik di Putera Heights di sini untuk meninjau beberapa mesin basuh.

Mereka sekeluarga seramai lima orang menikmati makan malam di Puchong untuk meraikan anak sulung mereka, Eric yang berusia tujuh tahun kerana dipilih sebagai ketua kelas.

Adik William memiliki ketinggian 70sm dan mempunyai kesan parut di bahagian kiri dahi. Punca sama ada dia diculik atau hilang begitu saja masih lagi disiasat.

Adik William Yau Zhen Zhong, 6 tahun telah dilaporkan hilang pada 16 Januari 2013.
