Lorry Driver Suffers Burns Due To Oxygen Gas Leak At Kuala Lumpur Hospital

The incident happened at the engineering block of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at around 6pm yesterday, 13 June.

A lorry driver suffered burns on his hand due to a oxygen gas leak incident at the engineering block of Kuala Lumpur Hospital (HKL) at around 6pm yesterday, 13 June

The oxygen gas leak had caused burns to the lorry driver's left hand, reported Bernama.

According to a spokesperson for the Kuala Lumpur Fire and Rescue Department's operations centre, 17 firefighters from the Titiwangsa Fire and Rescue station (BBP) and the Jalan Tun Razak BBP rushed to the scene.

This was after a distress call received by the department following the incident.

Firefighters were met with a cloud of white smoke upon arrival following the leak at the scene, the spokesperson said in a statement last night

They added that, "It is believed the connection pipe from a 7,000L tanker truck containing oxygen gas supply had leaked while work to fill the oxygen supply to the tank was carried out."

It was reported that a hazardous material (hazmat) team was able to successfully close the leak on the affected pipe

According to the statement, cleaning work of the areas affected by the leak has been carried out.

The lorry driver was sent to the emergency unit at HKL for treatment.
