The High Court found the Federal government, the police and Khalid liable for killing the 14-year-old Malaysian student, at whom 21 shots were fired by police Corporal Jenain Subi

Aminulrasyid's elder sister Nor Azura Amzah, 46, and his mother Norsiah Mohamad, 67, filed the suit in April 2013 alleging negligence, assault and battery.

They claimed that Aminulrasyid's death six years ago was due to policeman Kpl Jenain Subis' carelessness, saying there was no justification for him to shoot the 14-year-old schoolboy. The suit claimed that Kpl Jenain and other policemen wrongfully shot Aminulrasyid, which caused his death on April 26, 2010.

They named Kpl Jenain, the Shah Alam district police chief, former Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar, the IGP and the Government as defendants. They claimed that Khalid, who is now IGP, had made an unfair and unfounded statement implying that the boy was a criminal or a suspected criminal.

Following the ruling, Inspecter-General of Police (IGP) Khalid Abu Bakar has been urged to do the honourable thing and resign, or at the minimum apologise to the family of Aminulrasyid Amzah

However, an adamant Khalid has said that neither will he entertain any demands that he resign to take responsibility for the case, nor is he going to apologise to the boy's family, despite the fact that the Shah Alam High Court found him guilty of "public misfeasance"

Misfeasance in public office is a term used when a public official makes a mistake while carrying out his duty that is technically not illegal.

The judge, in his ruling while finding Khalid guilty of public misfeasance, had said that Khalid's action in calling for a media conference at that time was to whitewash Corporal Subi's mistake by suggesting that the police acted after discovering a machete in the car the 14-year-old was driving when he was shot dead on 26 April 2010.

"Why would I want to apologise? I will not apologise," Khalid said curtly when asked if he would apologise to Aminulrasyid's family

When asked to comment on the calls for him to resign, he said:

"Everyone wants me to resign. But they are not my boss.”

Lawmakers including Selangor Mentri Besar Datuk Seri Azmin Ali and Penang Chief Minister Lim Guan Eng have urged Khalid to apologise for the public statement that led to the court finding him guilty of public misfeasance.

In a statement following the court ruling, Lawyers For Liberty also told the IGP to step down for being "irresponsible" inexecuting his duty as a senior police officer that time.
