A local businesswoman cum online personality who recently uploaded photos of her trip to Janda Baik, Pahang on social media is now being investigated by the police
Bentong police chief Supt Zaiham Mohd Kahar told Berita Harian that an investigation was launched following a police report on the individual's Instagram posts.
Previously, her posts went viral and were republished by netizens on other social media platforms.
The police also debunked her statement which suggests that a travel permit is not needed for people to enter Janda Baik from Selangor
Zaiham noted that the woman may be issued a compound of up to RM5,000.
The investigation is being handled by the Criminal Investigation Department at the Bentong police headquarters according to Regulation 17(1) of the Prevention and Control of Infectious Diseases Regulation 2021.
"The police denies the woman's confusing statement, that an interstate travel permit is not needed for travels from Selangor to Janda Baik," he added.
He also implored members of the public to contact the Bentong police headquarters if they have any information regarding standard operating procedure (SOP) violations within the district
Zaiham advised people to not make any speculations on the incident and to always abide by regulations set in place by the National Security Council (MKN) in their efforts to break the chain of COVID-19 infection.
