Social media has been abuzz in the past few hours after a site bearing The Malaysian Insider's nameplate announced that the popular news portal is due to make a comeback "in the coming days"

The alleged revival of The Malaysian Insider also carries a new URL - malaysia-insider.asia.

News of the alleged revival was widely shared after Petaling Jaya Utara MP Tony Pua posted the link on his Facebook page.

Others have also cautioned against the site, pointing out that the website is "fishing for e-mail addresses" and the discrepancy of its URL "malaysia-insider.asia"
