The Road Transport Department (JPJ) is reminding Malaysians to renew their road tax or driving licence if it expired during the Movement Control Order (MCO)

On their official Facebook account, JPJ reminded that there are two days left before the exemption from renewing licences ends on 30 September.

The 70% discount on JPJ summons will also expire on the same date.

"The discount on JPJ summons and exemption to renew the Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) and Malaysia Driving Licence (LMM) during MCO will end on 30 September," they said today, 29 September.

The exemption on renewal of motor licences during the MCO was granted to avoid congestion at physical counters of relevant agencies

On 29 August, Transport Minister Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong announced that the grace period was extended to 30 September, in line with the extension of the Recovery Movement Control Order (RMCO).

According to Free Malaysia Today, he also said that all JPJ counters are fully operational as normal since the implementation of the RMCO.

Malaysians are also encouraged to renew their road tax and licence online through the MySikap JPJ or MyEG portals.

JPJ urged people to renew their licences or pay their summons as soon as possible

"We call on motorists to get these done early to avoid issues during the last minute rush," they advised.
