The Ministry of Home Affairs (KDN) confiscated over 1,000 banned sex toys at a residence in Kota Warisan, Sepang, on 19 December last year

Of those confiscated, photos by Bernama show that even a pillow with a print of an anime character dressed scantily was also seized.

During a press conference on Tuesday, 7 March, KDN enforcement and controls division secretary Nik Yusaimi Yussof said the seizure was made under Ops Maya 1/2023 after authorities started monitoring the house, reported Utusan Malaysia.

The premises were used to store the toys before they are sold online. The seizure involved 25 types of sex toys, including toys resembling male and female genitalia, sex dolls, and vibrators.

Nik Yusaimi said the banned items are an offence under Section 7(1) of the Printing Presses and Publications Act 1984 for eroding moral values.

A 57-year-old Malaysian man was arrested on 19 December 2022 and was charged last month under the aforementioned Act and Section 292(a) of the Penal Code for distributing and selling obscene items

"KDN will not hesitate to take stern action against any party involved in elements that can erode morals, public order, and national safety," Bernama quoted Nik Yusaimi as saying.

He added that the items seized are worth RM115,000, with prices ranging between RM70 to RM1,000.

They are believed to have been made in China before being brought into the country from Thailand.

"The ministry is worried that the use of sex toys would affect the morality of Malaysians, and if uncontrolled, it would lead to a decline in moral values and other social problems," said Nik Yusaimi.

There are several provisions under Malaysian law that incriminate the possession of obscene materials:
