While apologising for the sudden closure, Konsortium Express said that the affected passengers can claim travel insurance or can go to the small claims tribunal for a refund

"For those who have recently purchased tickets from the company, we advise you to contact the company directly at +65 6392 3911 or Consumers Association of Singapore at +65 6100 0315 to seek compensation or further enquiries," read the notice.

"We are deeply apologetic for the sudden closure and we seek your forgiveness."

The sudden closure, caused due to financial problems, has affected many passengers wanting to travel to Malaysia

According to a report in Channel 8 News Singapore, many local agencies have reached out to help affected travellers and hopefully reduce their losses.

In a separate report, the Straits Times reported that the Express and Excursion Bus Association said its member companies will provide free trips to those who bought tickets directly with Konsortium to travel to Malaysia from now till 1 March.

Update (26 February):

It was previously reported that Malaysian-owned Konsortium Bas Ekspres Semenanjung (KBES) is the coach company for the Konsortium Express & Tour agency in Singapore. However, KBES has no association nor partnership with the agency. We apologise for the misleading information.
