M'sians Are Sad That McD Is Temporarily Discontinuing Hash Browns For Brekkie & So Are We
It is stated in McD's response that the halt will be temporary but indefinite.

First French fries, and now, hash browns?
A tweet expressing disappointment in McDonald's Malaysia's discontinuation of hash browns for their breakfast menu went viral recently.
Twitter user @dewirosliiiiiii made the discovery when she went to an outlet on 23 July. A staff member had told her that McD will replace the hash browns in customers' breakfast orders with fries or apple pies.
"I found out from a McD staff when I ordered (breakfast) yesterday that they've discontinued (the sales for) hash browns. Some people said that it will be back. If it's true, then (we're) grateful. If not, then [we'll] cry, okay?" tweeted Dewi in the same thread.
The tweet garnered over 5,000 retweets, almost 6,000 likes, and about 100 replies
A netizen expressed their dismay, saying, "This is madness! The hash browns are the tastiest! Bring back the hash browns immediately!"
Some users lamented over the rumoured discontinuation since hash browns were their favourite part of the breakfast menu.
But good news, McD replied to Dewi's tweet stating that the discontinuation is not permanent
In the tweet, they said, "Patience, young people, this is just temporary. (The hash browns) are out of stock. But we can't predict when it will be back."
Netizens breathed a sigh of relief when McDonald's Malaysia confirmed that the hash browns will not be gone forever
In another tweet, McD reiterated that the halt is only until the stock has returned to normal. Empathising with its customers, McD encouraged hash brown fans to express their hopes for the return of the much loved menu item.
Under the tweet, Malaysians 'demanded' McD to never discontinue hash browns.
"Do not discontinue hash browns! It's the only reason I wake up early and go out," tweeted a user.
Another person wished that the hash browns would return soon, saying, "Don't (discontinue) for too long. I always have my breakfast at McD because of the hash browns."
SAYS has reached out to McDonald's Malaysia for more details but has yet to receive a response.
