M'sia Records 869 New COVID-19 Cases In A Day

Selangor recorded a total of 159 new cases today.

Today, 17 October, Malaysia recorded 869 new cases of COVID-19

All of the new cases recorded today are cases of local infection.

This has brought the cumulative total number in the country to 19,627 cases with the total number of active cases spiking to 6,886m according to data shared by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

Of the 869 new cases, Sabah recorded the highest number of cases at 451.

There were four new deaths reported today, all of which were in the Borneo state.

745 of the cases were Malaysian citizens while 124 cases involve non-citizens.

Meanwhile, the states in the Klang Valley accounted for a whopping 20.3% of the total number of COVID-19 cases recorded today

Among the Klang Valley state, Selangor recorded the most number of cases at 159.

The Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur recorded 15 cases and the Federal Territory of Putrajaya recorded two cases. All these three states are under the Conditional Movement Control Order (CMCO).
