Selangor Records More Than 60% Of New COVID-19 Cases Due To Teratai Cluster

1,882 are local transmissions while two cases were imported.

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has recorded 1,884 new COVID-19 cases today, 23 November

This is the highest number of COVID-19 daily cases Malaysia has ever seen, with the last highest being 1,755 cases on 6 November.

According to the MOH official Twitter account, Health director-general Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said this has put the total cumulative number of cases at 56,659.

The nation recorded two deaths from the virus in Sabah today, while there are currently 13,842 active cases.

115 of the active cases are in intensive care units (ICU), while 48 require ventilator assistance.


Two cases recorded today are imported transmissions

Selangor reported the highest number of positive cases at 1,203, and the next was Sabah with 289 cases, then Kuala Lumpur at 196.

The Teratai cluster in Selangor was the largest contributor of new cases in the Klang Valley with 1,067 cases, followed by the Damanlela cluster with 105 cases, and a new cluster, Bintang, 75.

Meanwhile, four new clusters were also reported in Malaysia, while three clusters have ended.
