On the 10 Oct, MASwings flight crashed into a house in Kudat. The crash killed the aircraft’s co-pilot, Marc Joel Bansh, 23, and Selangor-born Tan Ah Chai, 96, a passenger.

The control tower is unmanned, the plan was believed to have been hit by crosswinds during landing
MH3002 had left Kota Kinabalu airport at around 2.05pm for the 40-minute flight to the northern district and is believed to have been hit by crosswinds while making the landing on the 900m landing strip, known as a Short Take Off and Landing Strip – STOL.

A passenger in his 90s died at the Kudat Hospital while two others are believed to be in critical condition. The airline will hold a press conference at 10pm later today in Kota Kinabalu to address the incident.

In the statement, MAS said the plane had “landed short” of the runway, naming the flight as MH3002 and stated that it would “continue to monitor the situation”.

A woman and her 11-year-old son who were in the living room escaped unhurt.
