The Malaysian Meteorological Department (MET Malaysia) has predicted that the Monsoon season in Malaysia is expected to begin on Monday, 13 November, with heavy rain forecasted for the east coast, Sabah and Sarawak

While people of Sabah, Penang, and Kedah are still recovering from the floods that ravaged their lives last week, earlier today, MET Malaysia issued a statement saying that four to five incidences of heavy rain are expected until March 2018.

More rain in the coming months with risks of flooding

"Heavy rain is expected in Kelantan, Terengganu, Pahang and Johor in November and December 2017. In December 2017 and January 2018, the heavy rain is more focused on west Sarawak, north and east Sabah," the MET Department said.

According to the statement, during the northeast monsoon, continuous rainfall up to three days could cause floods in low-lying and flood-prone areas.

"If the heavy rains fall at the same time as the high tide, the risk of floods occurring is higher," MET Department has warned.
