38-year-old David Holmes was riding at about 156 km/h when he died on the A47 at Honingham, Norfolk, in June 2013. Norfolk Police uploaded this video of the crash on YouTube, filmed by a camera on David's helmet, on 4 September 2014. WATCH:

In the video, David is heard making an agonised call as he realises he cannot avoid the crash. The driver of the car was prosecuted after he said he did not see David. The dramatic video, which authorities said have generated a "truly remarkable" amount of discussion about road safety, shows David overtaking several cars and motorbikes in a fraction of seconds before being hit by a Renault Clio as it turned at a junction. David's family, who fully support the release of the video, hope it will encourage motorists to slow down.

David's mother Brenda Holmes, a retired nurse who is shown in the video talking about the heartache of losing a child, makes a plea for people to be more careful on the roads

She said if the video could save one life, it would be worth it. "It has a huge shock impact and the difference is it's not a staged, mocked up advert," she said. "It's real. It's a real life, and a real life lost."

"I know he rode fast that day, he loved speed but he also loved life. This hasn’t been an easy thing to do but I just hope that somebody benefits from the warning; that people slow down and take time to look for bikes. I’m not a perfect driver, I’ve done silly things sometimes and I’ve been lucky to get away with them, David wasn’t lucky, the driver wasn’t lucky.”
