According to a Bernama report, the ban has been put in place by the Perlis Islamic Religious Department (JAIPs)

JAIPs' Enforcement Division spokesman issued a statement, saying action would be taken against traders who did not adhere to the ruling under Section 25(1)(a) of the Islamic Syariah Enactment 1991 (Amendment 2012).
