IGP Says Najib And His Cabinet Ministers Are ISIS Targets
The IGP has warned that he would not hesitate to act against those who compromise the safety of Malaysia.
After it was revealed that the explosion at Movida Puchong was indeed the first successful attack by ISIS on Malaysian soil, IGP Khalid Abu Bakar has now confirmed that PM Najib Razak and his Cabinet Ministers are targets of the Islamic terror group
The IGP, who was speaking a press conference at Bukit Aman on Monday, 4 July, said that the Movida attack was just the first in a series of similar attacks planned by the Islamic State militants
He told the reporters that the two men who carried out the attack at Movida were also targeting "the senior leadership of the country, top police officers and senior members of the judiciary" because the militants felt that these three groups in the country were the "main obstacles to their activities."
"They were receiving instructions directly from Islamic State militant Muhammad Wandy Mohamed Jedi from Syria," Khalid Abu Bakar added.
The Islamic State has reportedly declared war on Malaysia including Indonesia and Thailand, the two Asian countries where its militants have carried out attacks targeting police and other security forces

The bomb attacks in the three Asian countries came just days before Eid holiday.
And the Malaysian police force is not taking them lightly, vowing to hunt down those who issue threats over social media to deliberately frighten the people or attempt to spread the IS ideology in Malaysia
Bukit Aman Special Branch director Mohamad Fuzi Harun said today the police would not compromise in the case of anyone trying to spread the IS ideology in the country.
"We will monitor all aspects, including YouTube video clips, a medium often used by this group to intimidate the people," he told Bernama.
Mohamad Fuzi said the police would monitor every social media platform available in the country. He said that though the IS video clips could be a drama to intimidate the people in the country, the police took the matter seriously.
The IGP, on the other hand, has advised media houses in the country to practice constraint while providing space to IS militants and supporters, noting that this only fuels their hunger for attention
Khalid, who was responding to interviews published by the NST and Oriental News Daily on Muhammad Wandy Mohamed Jedi, a Malaysian IS leader warning of more attacks, told Malaysiakini that, "the media should not allow these criminals to glorify their actions, as it could serve to influence others. This is a sensitive security issue, and the media must tread on this carefully. These people thrive on media attention. They want recognition. Give them space, and it would embolden them further."
He would not hesitate to act against those who compromise Malaysia's safety.
Upon receiving news that their prime minister was a target of terrorists, some Malaysian netizens did not seem to mind:
