Najib Says He Is Confident That BN Can Win Big On Election Day
The BN chairman said the party had a good chance of wresting the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat from the opposition.
At a "Meet-the-People" session in Peramu Jaya yesterday, 5 May, Dato' Sri Najib Razak expressed his confidence that BN can win the upcoming general election by a wide margin
With two days to go until GE14, Najib explained that his confidence was founded on the briefings from UMNO leaders in each location they have campaigned in around the country since nomination day, on 28 April.
The BN chairman revealed that these leaders included those of Kepala Batas and Tasek Gelugor in Penang which he visited on Saturday morning, and noted that BN would be able to retain the two parliamentary seats, according to Bernama.
The caretaker prime minister described the scene at a BN talk in Sungai Siput as "so crowded that there were not enough chairs for the people to sit"
"Even the aisles were filled with supporters and I was told that we had a good chance of wresting the Sungai Siput parliamentary seat from the opposition," he said.
Najib added that "Insya Allah, if this happens we can win big provided that we can defend the seats that are already in our hands."
On the subject of the opposition's tactics, Najib said that he is unbothered by the fake news on social media intended to portray the opposition as receiving widespread support
He said that, "I was made to understand that they brought outsiders (to such talks) and later took pictures and uploaded them on social media (portraying) a show of strength. This is their tactic," Bernama reported.
The BN chairman assured the crowd that, "We don’t use such tactics. We just use local voters. That is how we gauge our strength. In fact, we have the strength of the local (supporters)."
