A Total Of 6 UPNM Students Have Been Charged In Navy Cadet Zulfarhan's Murder Case
Five of them were charged with murder while the sixth was charged with abetting.
The case of Navy cadet officer Zulfarhan, who died after being tortured by his so-called friends at the Army Trainee dormitory in the UPNM, has made some progress
Six of the 32 UPNM students, whom the police had arrested following Zulfarhan's death, were charged with murdering the Navy cadet officer in a Magistrate's court.
While five of them — Muhammad Akmal Zuhairi Azmal, Azamuddin Md Sofi, Muhammad Najib Mohd Razi, Muhammad Afif Najmudin Azahat and Mohamad Shobirin Sabri — were charged with murdering Zulfarhan, under Section 302 of the Penal Code, the sixth one, Abdoul Hakeem Mohd Ali, was charged with abetment under Section 109 of the same law, read together with Section 302, The Star Online reported.
Section 302 of the Penal Code carries the mandatory death penalty.
Magistrate Siti Radziah Kamarudin recorded no plea from any of the six accused and no bail was offered either
Meanwhile, the six along with 13 other UPNM students were also charged with voluntarily causing hurt to force Zulfarhan to confess about the alleged theft of a laptop
All of them are said to be 21 years old. According to The Star Online, the 13 are:
1) Muhammad Hasif Ismail, 2) Muhammad Akmal Akif Alias, 3) Mohd Hafiz Fauzan Ismail, 4) Mohamad Lukhmanul Hakim Mohd Zain, 5) Ahmad Shafwan Berdal, 6) Muhammad Amirul Asraff Mala, 7) Luqman Hakim Shamsuri Agus, 8) Mohamad Syazwan Musa, 9) Muhammad Adib Iman Fuad Adi Sany, 10) Muhammad Danial Firdaus Azmir, 11) Muhamnad Ashraf Abdullah, 12) Noriznan Izzairi Noor Azhar and 13) Muhammad Sufi Mohd Mustapha.
