Couple Sells Tea At 50 Sen A Cup To Thank Donors Who Helped Daughter Fight Leukaemia
Their daughter was diagnosed with leukaemia at the tender age of two.
A couple in Port Dickson is selling teh o for just 50 sen a cup to repay the kindness of donors who helped fund their daughter's leukaemia treatment
Yusnira Mukhtar, 42, said her daughter, Puteri Iris Sofea, has been battling leukaemia since the tender age of two, reported Bernama.
She said both she and her husband, Rohaizad Abdul Khalid, believed that the stall, aptly named Warung Teh 'O' 50 Sen, was the most meaningful way to repay their customers and friends who supported them during the challenging period.
"We sell iced teh o [and] hot teh o at 50 sen a cup because we want to give back to charity and repay the good deeds of donors who extended their help.
"We can't find everyone who has helped us all this while. My husband and I are very grateful, so I think this is the best way to repay the good deeds of our customers," she said.
Yusnira shared that she and her husband had to resign from their previous jobs to care for their daughter
Nevertheless, the couple said they are grateful to their neighbours and customers who collectively contributed almost RM20,000 for their daughter's treatment.
Yusnira also shared that her daughter, who is now 14 years old, is in good health.
Yusnira stated that they receive orders for hot or iced teh o from over 20 customers daily
"The name of our stall, Warung Teh 'O' 50 Sen, is another factor, [attracting] customers [who are] willing to come here and try our dishes," said Yusnira.
She mentioned that despite grappling with the increasing costs of goods, they are committed to maintaining the same tea price as they intend to continue giving back to the community.
Besides teh o, the stall also offers a variety of beverages, like coconut shakes, as well as serves Malay dishes like asam pedas and salai at affordable prices.
