PH Youth Pledges To Create 1 Million Jobs With Minimum RM2,500 Monthly Salary
Nilai ADUN J Arul Kumar said that young people will play an important role in the 14th general election (GE14).
Pakatan Harapan (PH) Youth has pledged to create one million job opportunities with a minimum monthly salary of RM2,500
In a bid to win over young people who make up 40% of the electorate in the next general elections, PH Youth Vice-Chairman J Arul Kumar said that the coalition will make it a priority to create these new employment opportunities should Pakatan Harapan take over as the federal government.
He said this when giving his speech at the Pakatan Harapan Convention at the Ideal Convention Centre (IDCC) in Shah Alam yesterday, 7 January.
The Nilai assemblyman also slammed Barisan Nasional (BN) over the ruling coalition's failure to fulfil its promises
"We as young people are full of potential, but under the BN government, people in our age group are faced with various issues," he said, adding that BN government has failed to make any economic transformation that could help young people, especially in terms of job opportunities.
Arul said that BN has promised to create 3.3 million new jobs with two million jobs in high-income sectors in its manifesto during GE13, but what's happening is that nearly 50,000 employees are losing their jobs every year.
His comments come as the Malaysian Employers Federation (MEF) recently stated that over 50,000 Malaysians are expected to lose their jobs this year with the manufacturing, services sectors, and construction sector, to be among those that will be badly affected.
Stressing the importance to capture majority of young voters to create a clean and just government, Arul said that PH Youth has come up with problem-solving policies that will offer better quality of life to young people in the country
According to Arul, the PH Youth has taken another step forward at the convention by launching the 'Tawaran Anak Muda' Pemuda Harapan policy, aimed at helping young people who have to deal with the country’s current challenging economic situation and rising cost of living.
Tawaran Anak Muda is a 10-point policy based on five core thrusts namely:
1. Hak untuk pekerjaan yang baik (The right to a good job)
2. Hak untuk pendidikan yang berkualiti (The right to quality education)
3. Kos sara hidup yang lebih rendah (Lower cost of living)
4. Hak untuk perumahan mampu milik (The right to affordable housing)
5. Hak untuk pembangunan sukan dan rekreasi yang adil (The right to fair sports and recreation development)
