A bomb blast has torn through the oldest bazaar in the north-western Pakistani city of Peshawar, killing at least 33 people and injuring more than 70.

It is the latest of three terrorist attacks to have hit the city in just the past week, with the total death toll standing at 130 lives lost.

Today’s blast appeared to have come from a remotely-detonated bomb in a parked car, police officials said, going off on a busy morning in the heart of Peshawar’s historic Qissa Khawani market near a mosque and a police station.

The explosion damaged nearby buildings – including the mosque – according to police officers. A number of nearby vehicle were also set alight, and the spreading fire wreaked havoc among the mainly wooden market structures.
