At Least 15 Feared To Be Buried In Landslide In Penang Construction Site

There's been a landslide in a construction site in Tanjung Bungah, Penang

The incident is reported to have happened at around 8.50am this morning, 21 October, not far from the Tunku Abdul Rahman College campus in Penang.

“When we arrived at the scene at about 9.10am, we found that the construction site at the hill slope had been hit by a landslide," said the Fire and Rescue Department.

According to news reports, at least 15 people are feared to be trapped beneath the rubble

“I was operating the crane when suddenly the earth caved in. There was hardly time to do anything,” a foreign worker said.

The worker who witnessed the incident told NST in an interview that everything happened so fast.

Rescue officials say two people have been rescued as of 10.45am

Workers on the site are assisting the Bomba crew in the search and rescue mission to recover all trapped victims.
