Malaysians Were Late To Work And Missed Their Flights Due To 2-Hour KTM Standstill
It all started with a broken switch rail.
Earlier today, 18 April, morning KTM commuters found themselves stuck in the train for more than an hour when a switch rail broke at its main Kuala Lumpur station during peak hour around 7.00am
According to KTMB personnel, they had only identified the problem around 7.00am, after which repair work progressed. Due to the broken switch rail, all routes in the KTMB commuter service were disrupted and delayed for 20 to 30 minutes as only one lane is in service.
As all service routes were disrupted due to the broken rail switch, hundreds of people found themselves stuck in the train at least an hour
Later, they were also stranded at various KTM stations and were forced to find alternative routes to their respective destinations after a one to two-hour delay
A viral post on Facebook detailing the user's experience with the hours-long delay revealed that many - including him - were late to work this morning. He also noted that one girl was tearing up as she was running late for an exam.
Some also aired their grievances on social media. One was late for their first day at work while another had to buy another flight ticket as his daughter had missed her flight due to the delay.
KTMB has since apologised several times for the service disruption via its Twitter page, clarifying that the issue has been resolved although there are still delays to the scheduled arrival times
Disebabkan masalah teknikal berhampiran stesen Kuala Lumpur, Komuter ke semua destinasi telah mengalami kelewatan dr jadual asal. Mohon maaf
