One of them, Sunita Rosti, 35, said she was alone at home when a gush of strong wind came through the utility balcony and swirled inside the house. She tried to close the door and all of a sudden the wind blew the wall off. "I heard some noises in the bedroom and when I went to check, I was shocked to see it was exposed. I am thankful that my children were not at home, as they were staying with my ex-husband," she said.

The heavy rain and strong winds around the capital that began about 5 pm today also wrought havoc in other parts of the city, uprooting trees, snapping off tree branches, tearing signboards and walls of houses. According to a Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) control room spokesman, among the areas affected by fallen trees were Jalan Stadium near Stadium Negara, the Malayan Railway Roundabout near the Majestic Hotel, Jalan Maharajalela, Jalan Hang Tuah and the entrance to the Police Headquarters in Bukit Aman.
