Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has announced new salary adjustments for civil servants, which will take effect starting December this year

According to the New Straits Times, this follows a salary review of civil servants under the new Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA).

Officers in the Implementation Group and Management and Professional Group  will receive a 15% salary increment.

Meanwhile, officers in the Top Management Group will see a salary increase of 7%.

The changes will be carried out in two phases: the first phase in December 2024 and the second phase in January 2026

"For officers under the Implementation Group, the salary adjustment will start at 8% in Phase 1 and 7% in Phase 2.

"Meanwhile, for the Top Management Group, the salary adjustment will be 4% in Phase 1 and 3% in Phase 2," Anwar said.

Anwar, who is also the Finance Minister, said the government has allocated more than RM10 billion for the salary adjustments under the new renumeration system

However, he expressed hope that the salary increments will improve productivity among civil servants.

He added that further details on the matter will be included in the 2025 Budget, which is expected to be tabled in Parliament in October.
