One of the policemen recently nabbed in a raid by Bukit Aman while partying at a police station in the district of Kajang has tested positive for drugs
The Bukit Aman Integrity and Standard Compliance Department (JIPS) director Datuk Azri Ahmad told The Star that the police station chief (OCS) tested positive for consuming ganja after an initial urine test was conducted.
He added, "The sample will be sent for further testing and if it turns out positive as well, he will be prosecuted."
The officer has since been pulled from active duty
Kajang police will investigate the violation of COVID-19 standard operating procedures (SOPs) and whether there was any criminal element involving the four policemen and four others, who were partying at the police station, he added.
According to China Press, the authorities seized the station chief's mobile phone and found information that suggests his involvement in drugs and criminal cases.
"JIPS will investigate the four policemen for misconduct and violations of regulations of public servants. Action will be taken without fear or favour," Azri told The Star.
He added that the police will not compromise in taking action against police personnel or officers who are involved in wrongdoings or crimes.
"The bad apples in the police force are only a minority. They will not be protected, instead, stern action will be taken against them. The raid on the police station was possible due to information from the public. Rest assured such information will be acted upon," he said.
The case is currently being investigated under Section 269 of the Penal Code
According to Malaysian law, Section 269 states that whoever unlawfully or negligently does any act which is, and which he knows or has reason to believe to be, likely to spread the infection of any disease dangerous to life, shall be punished with imprisonment for a term which may extend to six months or with fine or with both.
The station chief was arrested along with three other officers and four civilians while they were dancing and singing karaoke in a dark room that had a spinning disco ball light:
